Reconnecting with ancient wisdom through encaustic art
Welcome to
my world of myth, magic and
remembrance...

Dear you,
Welcome to my world.
I’m Anne-Claire Martens, an encaustic artist and intuitive soul, born with a pencil in my hand to make sense of the world around me.

I find deep inspiration in the work of women like Marija Gimbutas, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, and Renée F. Gloudemans. Each of them offers a unique glimpse into the wisdom of ancient (matriarchal) cultures.
I resonate deeply with these female-centered ways of living and translate their messages of hope, healing, and wholeness into my art.

"For over 30,000 years, we have used the same signs and symbols to tell the story of what it means to be human. These symbols often carry profound, timeless wisdom, many rooted in feminine values. Helping you reconnect with this ancient wisdom lies at the heart of my work."

A Technique as Old as Time
The word encaustic comes from the Greek enkaustikos, meaning “to burn in,” which refers to the process of fusing layers of wax with heat. This ancient technique holds a timeless magic, as beeswax, resin, and fire come together to create something entirely unique.
Every encaustic painting is born from this alchemy—a soulful process that invites you to feel rather than simply see.

The collection
To express the ideas and dreams that spark my imagination, I love to work in collections. Each collection evolves over time, as I explore its deeper layers and allow new stories to emerge. For me, this process feels like weaving a tapestry of meaning, one thread at a time.
